The RyanWatters.ca October Game of the Month didn’t turn out the Mount Boucherie Bears would have liked, falling 41-0 to the St. Thomas More Knights on Friday night.

The Bears had success early moving the ball on the ground against the fourth best team in the province, but were snake bitten by fumbles.

Near the end of the first quarter the Knights began to show why there are ranked in the Top 5.  Their healthy offensive line started to wear down the Bears allowing running back Shane Noel to eat up yards.  With just under four minutes to play in the opening frame Noel took the ball 39 yards for a touchdown to open the scoring.  It would prove to be the only points the Knights would need.

Under two minutes later the Knights punched it in again and led by 14 at the end of the first quarter.

The play of the game happened in the second quarter.  Knights’ tightend Spencer Moore caught a pass, only to have the ball jarred free and poked in the air by three Bear defenders.   Steve Duda was the lone Knight in the area and actually came down with the ball and sprinted 25 yards to the end zone before the Bears knew what had happened.

The Bears fall to 1-2 and will host the WJ Mouat Hawks on October 10 at 4:00pm under the Friday Night Lights.  Following the Bears and Hawks, the KSS Owls battle the RSS Voodoos at the Apple Bowl.
