WATCH June Game of the Month

The RyanWatters.ca June Game of the Month presented by Intersync Video Productions is scheduled for Sunday morning as the Okanagan Athletics host the Vancouver Cannons at Elks Stadium.


The Athletics are winners of three of their last four game and sit in 10th place in the BCPBL at 14-22.  The defending champs have struggled this year but still have a chance for a playoff spot.

The offence has hit .266 or fourth best in the league, scoring 161 runs.  Their pitching however is third worst in the league with a 3.77 ERA and have given up the most runs allowing 134.

Dawson Yates leads the Athletics at the plate with a .361 batting average, 39 hits and 24 RBIs.  Josh Croft has had a good year as well hitting .344 and leads the club with 12 doubles.  Croft also leads the club with six saves and 40 strikeouts.  Trevor Lofstrom is 3-1 on the bump with a 2.91 ERA.

Like the Athletics, the Cannons have a young squad and sit 15-18, in eighth spot.  The offence is hitting just .240, scoring 136 runs.  The Cannons pitching staff has a 3.57 ERA and have given up 115 runs, fourth most in the BCPBL.

At the dish, Nicolas Favaro is hitting .302 and leads the club with 29 hits, one homerun and 16 RBIs.   Max Wood has also been good, hitting .301 with five doubles and 14 RBIs.

On the hill Connor Noble has clearly been dominating despite missing a number of weekends as part of the Canadian Junior team.  Noble is 4-0 with a 0.42 ERA with 46 strikeouts in 33 innings.  Ryan Matsuda also has four wins with a 1.40 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 40 innings.  Brian Marklund leads the club with 52 strikeouts.
