Kelowna Chiefs Open Main Camp

Posted in Featured, Sports

It’s the start of another season for the Kelowna Chiefs.

The Chiefs will start building their roster next week during Main Camp as they prepare themselves for the start of the 2013/2014 Kootenay International Junior Hockey League season.

Camp will run Monday August 26th to Wednesday August 28th at Rutland Arena with 60 potential players in attendance, 10 of them being veterans, who will show off their skills in hopes of earning a spot with the team.

Returning this year is long-time Chiefs player Jordan Salahor who started his KIJHL career in 2010/11.  Joining Salahor will be line mate Nick Josephs who crossed over to the Chiefs from Alberta last season.

The Chiefs beefed up their coaching staff with the addition of Jason Tansem in the off-season.  Tansem was recently Head Mentor Coach of the Westside Minor Hockey Association.

Immediately following main camp, the Chiefs will open up exhibition action in Summerland against the Steam on Friday, August 30th.

The Kelowna Chiefs kick off the 2013/2014 KIJHL season on the road in Princeton on Friday September 13th.

The home opener is at Rutland Arena the following night, Saturday September 14th, against the Osoyoos Coyotes.

Last season the Chiefs finished first in the Okanagan Division with a 35-15-1-1 record, but were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs.
