The Kelowna Raiders were hoping for a better outcome in this past weekend’s dual provincial tournament in Coquitlam, but it was not to be. The team was unable to pull out of their division, despite defeating the Alberta champs, Calgary, in their first game 9 to 6 on Friday. In the second game, the Raiders ran into a fast Coquitlam Cobra team losing 9 to 6 being unable to contain the fast-breaking, second place coastal squad. On Saturday, Kelowna battled with the  Ladner Pioneers for two games, going down 12 to 10 in the first game and 10 to 6 in the second. The Ladner team was bigger and faster and the the Raiders were unable to beat their tough goalies nor defend against the fast breaking style of their big, skilled forwards. Kelowna efforts were consistently strong throughout the competitions and attitudes remained positive through to the final buzzer.

The Port Moody Express team in the second division came away with the tournament and provincial Gold medal on Sunday with the Silver tournament medal going to Red Deer Silverbacks and the Bronze tournament medal going to Ladner Pioneers. On the basis of goals for and against, the Raiders end up with a Silver provincial medal with the Bronze going to Prince George. Details of the entire Dave Bannister Memorial Tournament can be found on The BC Lacrosse Association’s website under” Sr. C  tournament”. The Raiders would again like to thank all of our great fans who attended the tournament and supported our club all season.
