Kelowna Raiders Open Playoffs

The Kelowna Raiders senior lacrosse team will open the 2013 best of three playoffs tonight against the Armstrong Shamrocks.

The Raiders have home court advantage finishing with eight points on the season.  The Raiders would win the regular season series 3-2, but have lost two straight coming into Game One.

All games have been relatively close this season except for the final game on June 19 when the Shamrocks scored a 12-6 victory at Memorial Arena.

The Raiders (4-6) would win their three games early in the season by an average of three goals, while the Shamrocks (3-7) would win by an average of 5.5 goals.

Joe Brown led the Raiders in the regular season with 24 points (12+12), while Pho Heng chipped in with 19 points (7+12)

The Shamrocks have been led by Jarrett Medurst with 28 points (18+10).  Pat Nelson collected 20 points (4+16) and could be a key in their offense attack.

Graham Cousins should get the start between the pipes for the Raiders with an 83.46% save percentage in six games, facing 260 shots.

Chad Pieper has been the main man for the Shamrocks.  In seven games he has an 80.79% save percentage, facing 302 shots.

The schedule for the best of the three playoff series between the Raiders and Shamrocks is:

Game One – Wednesday July 10 – 7:30pm – Memorial Arena

Game Two – Friday July 12 – 7:30pm – Nor Val

*Game Three – Monday July 15 – 7:30pm – Memorial Arena

The winner will face the first place Kamloops Rattlers who finished at 9-1 with 12 points, outscoring the opposition 83-52.
