Posted in Featured, Game Of The Month

The Okanagan College Coyotes won their second straight over the University of Calgary Dinos on Saturday afternoon after a 2-0 win in the March Game of the Month.

The Coyotes got a great performance from starting pitcher Kody Rock who won his first of the season after a complete game, seven hit shutout.  Rock would strikeout five, including his first in a bases loaded jam in the third.

With just one out the Dinos would fill the bases with their three and four hitters coming up.  Rock would catch Mark Phillips looking before Chris Van Keulen flew out to end the inning.

The Coyotes would get on the board in the bottom of the first inning, after Bryan Elias singled, stole a base and would score on an RBI ground out by Braden Heyland.  The run would stand as the game winning run.

The home side would add one more insurance run in the bottom of the sixth on a double steal.  With Andy Scott at third, Joel Lamount got into a run down between first and second that allowed Scott to score.

Mark Baigent would also go the distance for the Dinos on the bump and suffered the loss. He would allow just six Coyotes hits while striking out two.

With the win the Coyotes raise their spring record to 2-0, while the Dinos left town 0-3.  The ‘Yotes play Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm as they host the TRU Wolfpack at Elks.
