The Okanagan Athletics are back at home this weekend and will host their final home series of the regular season against the Parksville Royals.

The Athletics (23-15) will play doubleheaders on both Saturday (11am & 1:30) and Sunday (10am & 12:30pm).

In their last 10 games, the Athletics are 5-5 and have won two in a row.  They are six and a half games back of the Langley Blaze (28-7) for first in the BC Premier Baseball League.  The remaining schedule has the Athletics play their final 12 games against teams under .500.

The Athletics have had a fairly balanced attack this season hitting .246.  The strength has been their ability to steal bases, now 76 on the season, fourth most in the league.  Hitting doubles has also been a strength for the club, collecting 45, second most in the league.

Their pitching staff has been good this year, combining for a 3.15 ERA allowing 117 earned runs and 272 hits, while striking out 183 batters.

The Athletics are coming off a second place finish at the Annual Canada Day Blast tournament, falling to the host Kelowna Jays in an all-Kelowna finale.

The Royals on the other hand are not having a good season.  Their pitching staff is dead last in team (4.09) and walks allowed (170).   They have also given up 136 earned runs, second most and 249 hits.

Offensively they are hitting better than the Athletics hitting .254 with 111 runs scored and 229 hits.

Jared Young leads the Athletics in average (.317), hits (38), doubles (12), triples (3) and RBIs (26).

Admission to all Okanagan Athletic games are free.
