The Kelowna Mission Pee Wee Lions (10-11 year olds) have punched their ticket to the Provincial finals in Kamloops next weekend with a 51-13 victory over the Salmon Arm Colts in the Southern Interior Football Conference final.  With the win the Lions have finished their SIFC season a perfect 8-0.

Nate Beauchemin ran through the Colts’ defence with 178 total yards and three rushing touchdowns.  Beauchemin also scored a forth major on a 60 yard kick return.  On defence he was a standout as well making 11 solo tackles.

Noah Gross also had a great day running the ball adding 3 touchdown for the Lions and over 100 yards rushing.  Five other players carried the ball in a well balanced attack for the Lions.

All year the offensive line of Dylan McBratney, Cory Couch, Gregor Smith, Chris Henderson, Alex Mace, Aidan Vint, Evan Fitchett, Hunter Gaspari, Morgan Scott and Nick Kempf have been opening up big holes for running backs to go through.  They have truly been the backbone of this team offensively.

On defence, Aidan Vint made 9 tackles and Tariq Brown made 4 tackles.  Brown also had one interception and recovered a fumble for a solid day overall.  The Lions defence allowed only 8 Salmon Arm first downs the entire game.

“Our offensive and defensive lines dominated the game controlling the line of scrimmage,” said head coach Kendall  Gross.  “I believe our conditioning was a big factor in the game as well, as the boys are all in outstanding shape. While the coaching staff is very pleased with the success the players have had this season and couldn’t be prouder of them, the team still has one more goal – a provincial championship.  We still have a lot of work to do before next weekend, but this team is up for the challenge.”

The BC Community Football Provincial Championship take place this Saturday at TCC Stadium in Kamloops.  The Pee Wee Lions will face a team from the North and one from the Island to determine the Provincial Champion.
