Ringette Sweethearts

Posted in Featured, Sports

The Kelowna Ringette Sweetheart Tournament is the largest ice tournament held in British Columbia and the second largest in Western Canada! The Sweetheart Tournament is widely known as “the” tournament to attend and each year we see many returning teams.

Earlier and earlier in the year the organizing committee receives requests from new teams wanting to attend.  It is well known that Kelowna is the place to come as the tournament focuses strongly on providing the athletes with invaluable learning experiences, skill development, and team sportsmanship in a fun and positive environment.

“Ringette is truly a team sport. What sets it aside from sports like Hockey is players have to pass over both blues lines which ensures each player is a part of every play.”

Here are some of the highlights of the tournament:

*90 teams (14 KRA, 14 teams from across Alberta & 62 teams from British Columbia) playing in the tournament
*10 different divisions from U9-18+ (84 teams ages 5-18, 5 teams 18+)
*Over 1200 Athletes plus their families and coaching staff will attend
*Games start Friday morning in 3 cities (Kelowna, Lake Country & West Kelowna) on 8 different ice surfaces. RLP, Jim Lind, Memorial Arena, CNC 1 & 2, Rutland East & West & Winfield Arena. They continue until Sunday afternoon.
*Over 650 participation medals will be awarded to our U9, U10 & U12 players. On Sunday there are 14 Gold & Bronze medal games and over 250 placing medals will be awarded as our top teams compete for Gold.
