The April Game of the Month had a flare for the dramatics on Saturday as the Okanagan Athletics came from behind to beat the White Rock Tritons 6-5 in extra innings.

There was no scoring until the third when the Tritons scored on Athletics starter Trevor Lofstrom.

The offense tied it in the bottom of the fourth after RBIs from James Walker and Thomas Sloan.  However that didn’t last long.

The Tritons regained their lead and then some scoring three times in the top of the fifth.  All three runs charged to Lofstrom.  In the home half of the inning the Athletics scored two more as Lofstrom helped his own cause with an RBI.  The second run scored on a fielder’s choice.

After the runs the Tritons scored in the fifth, they collected just one hit the rest of the way.  Relievers David Tongue and Davis Todosichuk completely closed the door.

The Athletics rallied in the bottom of the seventh to tie the game to force extra innings.  After Jared Young walked and was moved to second when Lofstrom was hit by a pitch, Sloan smacked a ball to left that scored Young with the tying run.

Then in the home half of the eighth, Matt Brodt worked a one out walk.  The Athletics then loaded the bases on another walk and hit batter.  Young then delivered a game winning, two strike hit to drive in Brodt.

Todosichuk recorded the victory, while Barry Caine suffered the loss.

Young was named the WildPlay Element Parks Player of the Game.

The May Game of the Month is yet to be determined.
