Tournament Preview: Balfour Collegiate

Posted in Featured, Shows

The Balfour Collegiate Redmen are making their third trip to the 41st Annual Interior Savings Western Canada basketball tournament.

They were last in Kelowna in 2011 and didn’t show as well as they would have liked.  This year however the Regina school will be a threat with Mitch Jackson back in the line up after suffering an injury.  He is one of the best players in the country, being recruited by a number of schools including Carlton University.

The Redmen are a big physical team with three starters at 6’6 or taller.  They like to run when given the opportunity, however have no problem playing a half-court offense when needed.

Perhaps a sentimental favourite, after 35 years of teaching and coaching, the last 29 at Balfour, Coach Glen Fekula, will be retiring in June. So after roughly 120 tournaments attended over the years, this tournament will be the last of his career.
