Falcons – Knights Preview

The Kelowna Falcons welcome in the Corvallis Knights for a three game series beginning tonight at Elks Stadium.

The Falcons are coming off a six game road swing through Bend and Klamath Falls, returning 3-3.  The Falcons have won three of their last four games and seem to be playing better baseball as of late, finished 5-5 in their last 10 games.  They are currently 5.5 games back of the final playoff spot in the East Division with an 8-19 record.

Nick Colwell is the hottest of Falcons batters with a .312 average.  He leads the club with 77 at bats and 24 hits.  Newcomer Keach Ballard is hitting .333 in 21 at bats.  Dillon Bryant is also swinging the bat well as of late, he leads the team with 10 RBIs and is tied for the team lead with five doubles.  Andrew Firth also has five.

Brandon Marris, David Otterman and Ethan Miller are the three scheduled starters for the Falcons.  Otterman has won his last two starts and leads the club with 26 strikeouts.

Since 2004 the Falcons haven’t had much success against the Knights with a 13-27 overall record and a 7-14 home record.

The Knights have lost four straight and have been outscored 23-5 in their last two games.  Despite their slide, they still remain in second place in the West Division with a 14-12 record, just one game back of Bend for first place.

Statistically the Knights are in the middle of the pack.  Their offense has a team batting average of .229, scoring 92 runs on 198 hits.  On the mound the Knights have a team ERA of 3.03 which is fifth best in the league and they have the third most strike outs with 187.  The Falcons have the second most strikeouts with 199.

The Knights are led by Alex Foulon with at .298 average in 47 at bats.  Sean Myrom leads the club with 22 hits and nine doubles.

The projected starters this series for the Knights are all right handers; Chase Johnson (0-1), Chris Johnson (2-0) and Kyle Hart (2-0).
